Description:Our client is a nationwide supplier and maintainer of voice and data telecommunication systems.They are a £multi-million success story and they now seek an additional field engineer to join the team. It is essential that the successful candidate has experience maintaining the Siemens Hipath range of systems. This is a home based role ideal living location is M3 - M4 , Wiltshire, Hampshire area. JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE: MaintenanceEngineer

RESPONSIBLE
TO: Maintenance Manager

Main Duties of the Job

To work as part of the Maintenance team to ensure that our customers' telecommunication systems are maintained; rectifying any faults in a professional and timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

The post-holder is responsible for:

1. Attending sites in accordance with the work schedule provided by the Maintenance management team;

2. The development and training of any new maintenance engineer working with you;

3. Assisting other Engineers with the installation or maintenance of equipment as directed by the Maintenance management team;

4. Tidying the site after the maintenance work has been carried out ensuring that the site is left at least as clean and tidy as it was found upon arrival;

5. Ensuring that the customer is fully satisfied with the work undertaken before leaving site and ensure that the customer signs all relevant paperwork;

6. Updating customers regarding new technologies whilst on site to obtain a minimum of five upgrade leads per month for the Base Sales team;

7. Obtaining referrals from satisfied customers and passing these to the Maintenance Manager;

8. Calling in any outstanding issues that cannot be completed on site and report this back to the Maintenance management team to enable them to be rescheduled;

9. Calling the visit as complete to the Maintenance management team before leaving site;

10. Receiving and replying, as appropriate, to texts from our mobile handset tracking company;

11. Taking responsibility for their own health and safety and that of any staff working with them, ensuring that they work in a safe manner so as not to cause harm to themselves or others;

12. Supporting the work of the Engineering teams in additional areas as required;

13. Ensuring that they are up to date with all product updates and developments;


14. Assisting the Maintenance team by carrying out general administration duties including filing, logging calls, faxing etc when in the office;

15. Working on the Maintenance helpdesk as required.

Other Duties

The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to posts may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Such variations are a common occurrence and would not of themselves justify the re-evaluation of a post. In cases, however, where a permanent and substantial change in the duties and responsibilities of the post occurs, then the post would be eligible for re-evaluation.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that the postholder will:

1. Have a minimum of 2 year's telecoms installation or maintenance experience;

2. Experience on the Siemens range of business phone systems. Hipath 3000 Installation and Maintenance, DECT cordless packages, Data networks, HG 1500 and IVM expressions compact;

3. Be able to demonstrate an aptitude for technology;

4. Have a high level of manual dexterity;

5. Possess a current UK driving licence;

6. Possess IT skills and have a working knowledge of windows based packages;

7. Have proven customer care skills;

8. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

9. Possess good organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet
deadlines;

10. Be able to demonstrate their attention to detail;

11. Have a flexible approach to work and the ability to work well as part of a team;

12. Be able to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and be prepared to undertake staff development as required;

13. Have an understanding of the basic principles of Health and Safety; being able to undertake risk assessment as appropriate.


It is desirable that the postholder will:


1. have undertaken relevant Health & Safety training;

2. possess a current first aid at work certificate.
