Our Client is a highly successful, £multi-million systems and solutions Company operating Nationwide. They predominantly provide comprehensive IT and Server support/maintenance, for a broad range of Computer hardware and Electronics systems, including older legacy computing systems.
In line with expansion of an existing large maintenance/support contract in Lancashire, they now seek an additional Electronics Service/Bench/Workshop Test Engineer, who will be based out of their Lancaster Workshop.
Initially, this position will concentrate on workshop test and repair of the boards and power supplies (SMPS) that comprise these systems. Using the latest ATE and other test equipment, it is expected that these boards will be repaired by you to component level.
As part of the test and repair process the successful candidate will become familiar with the diagnostics and troubleshooting procedures of these machines and will progress onto assisting site based engineers at their client's location, in Lancashire.
Ideal applicants will have at least 5 years experience of testing, repairing and replacing electronic components on multilayer PCB's and ideally possess experience of Analogue and Digital component / logic circuits Test. Service experience on any of the following legacy computer systems will be advantageous; Digital, ICL, Prime, Bull, IBM and Data General. A big advantage will be experience of working with analogue circuits such as found in SMPS's (switch mode power supplies). The ability to read and discuss relevant circuit diagrams is essential. This role will always involve a significant amount of bench repair but the Field Service element will develop grow over time and the candidate will need to be able to operate in this environment. Therefore, a full driving licence is essential as well as a willingness to conform to stringent Health and Safety procedures.
